Where did the tradition of brunch come from?

We love brunch! Each weekend we take time to plan and cook brunch, generally on a Sunday. It got me thinking, where did the tradition of brunch come from?

The tradition of brunch originated in Britain in the late 19th century. It was a combination of breakfast and lunch and was typically served between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on weekends. The idea was to have a leisurely meal that combined the best elements of both breakfast and lunch, and to give people the chance to sleep in before having a late meal.

Brunch gained popularity in the United States in the 1930s and became a staple of American culture. Today, brunch is enjoyed all over the world and has become a social event where people gather with friends and family to enjoy a relaxed meal.

Thank you to those Brits! :-)
